Why is this the first by a Democrat of an actual human and actual family affected by these Medicaid cuts? How the hell do you expect to inform the fox Maggots with nothing but theoretical abstracts cuts cuts cuts that's all we hear about no human stories. That's what made the abortion issue powerful. The Democrats are pathetic losers. I'm sick and tired of it. Too little too late Pete .today in the Washington Post There was a story of a young man who got cancer who would never have survived without Medicaid. Why aren't the Democrats flooding the zone with these stories ?because they're pathetic losers and I'm sick of being a Democrat. I'm sick of being a loser.

This isn’t the first personal story…I’ve seen others. Instead of being angry and giving up on Dems, may I ask if you have been an active member of local Dems in your district? I live in red state Idaho, and I found that being an active member of my district and county Dem party, though small but mighty, has helped me learn how to change my frustration into action, by giving me the training and courage to door-knock, canvass for Dem candidates and issues. You aren’t alone in your frustration. I have found that instead of giving up, it helps if we learn to support our party. It takes a village.

I never thought that this would be the same here in America in the 21st Century and we would need a resistance against the Trump Administration that is becoming worst than Hitler and the Nazis. Only difference that I can see is that Alligator Alcatraz doesn't have room for the death chambers but who will know what is going on there???? We need eyes on the camp!! And also turn off any MSM/corporate media, they are not interested in democracy because a well functioning government is boring. Not enough click bait supposedly. Imagine that, a government running as it should, not perfect but doing the job that voters expect from a representative democracy. Realizing that we are up against a corporate takeover of our government is crucial to understanding who our enemies are in America today, and all those soulless people who are enabling this atrocity of corruption, just to feed on our dime. It’s beyond time to call out and boycott the corporate pigs who are willing participants in this fascist takeover of our nation. For those who are more financially well off, it’s time to take a stand and stop the indulgence of buying stuff just because. Every human being on this planet should know how Medicaid works. And if you don't you are living under a rock. It is not up to the Democrats to educate the idiotic Republicans who are bent on destroying people's lives all to make the rich people of this country even richer. And if you're so hot and bothered by the Democrats not doing what you want them to do, why don't you do something about it? It's easy for you to sit there and not do a damn thing but type some stupid comment when you could be out pounding the pavement and sharing people's stories like Pete is. I don't find it ridiculous at all. One does not have to be jobless to know what Medicaid is, all they have to be is educated. Perhaps that's the problem, no one wants to be educated on the problems of this country or the people that are not super wealthy and can afford health care.

Because not all employees work full time, nor make more than the basic income to not need Medicaid for health coverage. And not all employers provide health coverage unless you work full time. And there are the disabled adults and children who would be without coverage if Medicaid didn’t exist. Because the seniors who are at poverty level or very low income and can’t live alone are dependent on Medicaid ( in California, MediCal) for in home care or those seniors unable to remain at home are living in care facilities with 24/7 attendants and Medicaid reimburses basic room/board for those facilities to exist. The reality is Medicare doesn’t cover all healthcare expenses and for those low income people, Medicaid pays the difference (the 80/20 % rule). Most Americans can’t afford the daily rate out of pocket for in home caregivers, or in a facility that provides 24/7 caregivers let alone pay for a doctor visit to come to the facility. If Americans aren’t paying attention, in the near future, the reality of this nightmare bill will smack a lot of Americans upside the head.

You might consider reading the book "How Democracies Die" written in 2019. It describes in detail what Trump is doing right now.

"Donald Trump’s presidency has raised a question that many of us never thought we’d be asking: Is our democracy in danger? Harvard professors Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt have spent more than twenty years studying the breakdown of democracies in Europe and Latin America, and they believe the answer is yes. Democracy no longer ends with a bang—in a revolution or military coup—but with a whimper: the slow, steady weakening of critical institutions, such as the judiciary and the press, and the gradual erosion of long-standing political norms. The good news is that there are several exit ramps on the road to authoritarianism. The bad news is that, by electing Trump, we have already passed the first one." https://www.amazon.com/How-Democracies-Die-Steven-Levitsky/dp/1524762938

That was written during his first presidency when he was learning how to be a Fascist of the people by the people but for himself. The second test we failed also and you can see the other high water marks being passed daily. There is no doubt in my mind that every election will now be challenged and some will be overturned by the American Fascist Party (aka GOP).

This was even predicted by a political social scientist unrelated to the book: The Shocking Paper that Predicted the End of Democracy:

https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/09/08/shawn-rosenberg-democracy-228045/

The reason democracy will end? WE THE PEOPLE are unable to join forces to keep it alive. Read the article. When I read it in early 2024 I knew there was no chance a Democrat would win the White House. I was unprepared for the sweep of both House and Senate. The hijacking of the judiciary in Trump's first term has sealed the deal for fascism. He is no longer accountable to the people for any action he takes as President.

We can't stop him.

Telling personal stories is a powerful way to change public opinion. In 1789 France they began to lop off the heads of Royalists. Maximilien Robespierre, a key figure of the Reign of Terror, was wounded and screamed in agony as his jaw was exposed while being prepared for execution by the guillotine. This and many other examples exist that sickened the people watching the executions.

As an opponent of the death penalty, I would suggest all executions be televised. THAT is the way to change opinions.

I'm a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran. I packed up the personal gear of the very first KIA in my battalion. Seeing or living such horrors will impact all but psychopaths.

Dear Diane, I get your reaction and you’re not wrong. The problem with the Dems, from at least the Clinton era, is that they represent everybody apart from the loony right. And they still haven’t got over their fear of losing voters on the center-right after the Reagan revolution. On a more fundamental level of course, the real problem is that roughly half of the voters in the US use their vote to give the middle finger to « the system », and the GOP has been very good since Reagan at seeming to be the anti-establishment party while screwing ordinary Americans in favor of the very rich. I think the only solution for the Dems is to drop the « Clinton Dems » still running the show and replacing them with authentically socially-minded younger leaders.

I only wish that were true. Yet for years -- decades, really -- Fox News and even worse fright-wing cable networks have so filled voters in red states with such gaslighting absurdities and diversions that millions still believe Republican talking points about this awful bill. The sheer financial incoherence of it all, the unrestrained cruelty and delight in kicking people off their health insurance, the ideological fixation that substitutes for facts -- none of that comes up. It's all about "criminals" and "fraud" and immigration.

Not a single Republican who voted for this pile of vicious slop has ever explained the urgency of approving $4 trillion in debt by July 4. Senate Republicans have gone to grest length to conceal this through accounting gimmicks that no neutral accountant would sanction. And nobody from Fox challenges them. Oklahoma's illiterate, pugnacious Markwayne Mullin spouts lies -- dumb, silly, easily disproven lies, like the 'only' people on Medicaid are 'undocumented aliens.' Any reporter could call him out for his fraudulence and stupidity, but you'd never hear about it on Fox should it ever occur.

So sadly, millions still don't know. And until they switch channels, they'll never find out.

Woof - getting a little crazy in here. Can people stop attacking others? This does us no good. You don't know people's personal issues, emotional states, a need to have to step back, nada. So, let's just focus on how we can HELP. I did like what you said, Pete in another post about them holding off on these changes until a Dem takes office in 2028...that means we have time to fight this thing during the midterms. Keep fighting, ya'll!
