My Conversation with Reverend Barber and Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove

On the moral call for each of us to take action and care for those made vulnerable by today’s policies and politics.

Earlier today, I had the chance to join Reverend Barber and Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove for a conversation here on Substack Live.

I’m always glad for the opportunity to talk with Reverend Barber - a prophetic voice and servant leader I’ve long admired, and whose moral clarity and sense of coalition-building seems to matter more with each passing year.

As Congress considers what Reverend Barber rightly calls Trump’s “Big Ugly Bill,” much of our conversation today focused on what that bill would do to poor and working people across this country. Every budget is a moral document. It shows, in dollars and cents, who you care about - and just as importantly, who you don’t. And in this case, it is a naked attempt to transfer wealth from the poorest to the wealthiest in our country.

Trump and his allies are counting on us to be lulled into believing all of this is inevitable. It’s not, and it’s up to us to stand up and speak out.

One way to do that is by participating in Reverend Barber’s Moral Mondays in DC, including a significant action coming up on June 30th. If you’re able, I hope you’ll consider joining them.

Thanks for watching. Leave a comment and join the conversation.
