This was a wonderful, insightful, hopeful interview. Pete Buttigieg is both very smart and has common sense.

Yes!

Trump is dumb AF. Why couldn’t the voters see this? There’s not an economist on the planet who thinks this is a good idea; there isn’t a leader not named Putin who thinks any of this makes any sense.

This is what MAGA might not ever understand, to be the leader of the free world, you need to be smart! Dumbest trade war ever.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this impacted some Trump-branded items. Trump Home and Trump Hotel products, Trump eyeglasses and other items have been made in or imported from China 🤣

I will be wearing this "Don't blame me, I voted for her" t-shirt until this nightmare ends 👇

It’s not going to hurt Trump. You can be sure that he is making billions on his cryptocurrency because the bribes are untraceable.

And on insider trading! Have you seen this video? https://youtube.com/shorts/-sMx_7OccME?si=eYqV41glE_C8PUa1

Here is Trump boasting about his billionaire friends making money from the swings in the market.

Surely this is both criminal and impeachable???

Ann P's avatar

Yep, classic insider trading on the stocks, and classic extortion on the law firms. There are so many impeachable offenses happening right now, it’s mind boggling.

Gotta say, it reminds me of the expression 'You get the government you deserve.' Considering only half of Americans bothered to vote, and only half of those voted for HRH King Donald, that means only 25% of Americans voted FOR him. (And THAT is nothing to brag about.) Perhaps it is the slap in the face needed to get Americans to wake up and vote in the next election... although something tells me that most Americans have lost interest in politics after being ignored for so long, (considering politicians are totally dependant on multi-million 'donations' from corporations to pay for their election/re-election campaigns, it's no surprise that once elected those 'puppet politicians' owe favours to those corporations and focus their time and energy making new laws and quickly/quietly passing new bills, that protect and enrich those corporations... while 'serving and protecting' the American people is the last thing on their 'to do' list.) What else can I say? ('In a perfect world' Pete would be Americas President, but sad to say, Americans would NEVER accept a gay man as President... of course feel free to prove me wrong America!)

Mark Carney (Ccanada) has a Bachelor's and Masters Degrees from Harvard and a PhD from Oxford. He ran the Bank of Canada and shepherded the Bank of England through Brexit. He is a force.Canada owns $350B of T-Bills and in talks with Japan ($1.1T) and the E.U. ($650B). The threat of cashing in should make Bessent quake. Trump should consider changing his tariff policy.

How wonderful to hear common sense for a change… I can’t listen to too much of this because it truly plays with my brain….

If we are not careful, we will not recognize common sense after a while… unfortunately it’s everywhere like Covid …that’s why it’s important to turn it off… and that includes conversations with others which may appear benign, but all of it is impregnating the mind…

It’s become so pervasive that ‘turning it off’ is near impossible. It’s still there nagging at me. Something vitally important to my wellbeing is wrong and needs to be righted. It’s a ‘gut’ reaction that I doubt can be turned off.

It needs to be replaced….with ideas that make sense, that feel right, that calm the unease… It’s like therapy for me. Especially listening at bedtime.

Your comment about the impact of a shrinking economy on jobs is spot on, and will be exacerbated by Trump's dismissal of potentially hundreds of thousands of federal employees. This is not "policy"; it's a temper tantrum, but we're the ones placed in an indeterminate "time out."
